One name, five countries, and a way of doing safari we're glad to put our clients into.
Singita is not a single lodge but a collection of camps across some of Africa's best protected land. That is what sets it apart for us. The safaris are superb, but the reason we send so many people their way is the model underneath. Large tracts of wilderness are kept wild and the surrounding communities supported, funded by a small number of guests paying to be there. You travel well and the trip does real good, without one coming at the cost of the other.
The countries:
South Africa, in the Sabi Sand and in Kruger, for reliable big cat sightings and an easy first safari.
Tanzania, in the Grumeti reserve in the western Serengeti, for the wildebeest migration and huge open plains.
Zimbabwe, at Pamushana on the Malilangwe reserve, for somewhere quieter and far less travelled.
Rwanda, at Kwitonda beside Volcanoes National Park, for gorilla trekking in the forest.
Botswana, their newest, in the Okavango Delta, for water based safari.
Best for: Honeymooners, families, and anyone who wants their first safari to be the right one.
When to go: The Sabi Sand in South Africa is excellent year round. Grumeti in the Serengeti peaks from June to October as the migration moves through. Rwanda for gorillas is good most of the year and driest from June to September. We pick the country and camp around what you most want to see.
Good to know: Singita books out a long way ahead, often a year for peak dates and the smaller camps. As advisors we hold the relationships to secure the rooms and the guides, so the earlier you come to us, the more we can do.
Give us your dates and we'll hold space before it's gone.
